Spring Flower Nature Scavenger Hunt

March 17, 2016 By Thaleia 5 Comments

Signs of Spring are starting to pop up all over the place! Just a week ago I caught some Mourning Doves building a nest in our large Maple Tree. The only other signs of Spring in our yard are Winter Crocus that have been popping up. I decided we should take a walk around the block on a Spring Flower nature scavenger hunt.

Spring Flower Nature Scavenger Hunt

We grabbed our magnifying glasses, batman costume, jackets, rain boots, the puppy and off we headed. I was actually surprised at the lack of Spring flowers around our neighborhood. I know it’s not technically Spring for a few more days but I was hoping to see some buds on bushes or a few flowers blooming.

Learn about the Resurrection with Grapevine Studies

March 10, 2016 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Today we have another review to share with you as part of the TOS Review Crew! We had the privilege to explore Resurrection: Multi-Level from Grapevine Studies.

When it comes to curriculum, one of the biggest challenges we face as a homeschool family is finding something that is a good fit for all of our children. It’s not always possible to find curriculum that is engaging for our 5 year old but won’t draw eye rolls from our 11 year old and 13 year old.

Plastic Egg Hunt Letter Recognition

February 18, 2016 By Thaleia 1 Comment

What better way to practice letter recognition then with a plastic egg letter recognition hunt! Princess hid the eggs around the living room since it was under 30 degrees outside and muddy in the backyard. Big Red and Lil’ Red both had fun hunting for the eggs.

Plastic Egg Letter Recognition Hunt

After all of the eggs were collected it was time to crack them open to see which letter was inside. I used tiny letter erasers that I have had for years along with a laminated alphabet mat. I created the alphabet mat with small 1″ vinyl letters on black construction paper.

Magnetic Letters Spelling Sensory Bin

February 16, 2016 By Thaleia 5 Comments

Today I want to share with you a fun Magnetic Letters Spelling Sensory Bin . We just so happen to have tons of magnetic letters, a magnetic wand, and a tray that is magnetic as well. I actually have a plastic tub on my back porch labeled Alphabet which houses  a dozen different letter materials including foam letters, eraser letters, red and blue letters, Braille letters, and flashcards with simple Spelling words.

I grabbed a small plastic tub and added some brown crinkle paper as the filler. Then I placed in one set of magentic letters and added a red Magnetic Wands. I placed the bin on the table along with a metal tray.
