Must Have Fall Wardrobe Items #MommyStyle

October 10, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

I absolutely love Fall and all that this cooler season brings with it but I hate being cold or chilled. I am having my children go through their closets to be sure that they have Fall wardrobe items that still fit! Since it’s my birthday season I am creating a list of items that I would like to add to my Fall wardrobe as well. I do not want to wimp out this season because I do not have the proper layers in my Fall wardrobe to be able to enjoy the outdoors!

I am wearing a fleece lined beanie from Cache Alaska that just happened to match my purple zippered vest (you can find a similar one from Port Authority).

Must Have Free Apps for Homeschooling

September 28, 2018 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Last night was Mom’s Night Out and we got to talking about ebooks, audiobooks and online programs that we use for ourselves or homeschool. I quickly found out that not everyone know the tricks to finding free apps through Amazon Prime and their local libraries. Since I do not want to keep this information to myself I thought I better create a post and share with mom’s and families everywhere who want to find great free apps to use to spice things up for school.

Free Apps for Homeschooling

Prairie Wildflower Identification Hike #NatureBookClub {Link Up}

September 20, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

It’s September already! Can you believe that it’s time for another Nature Book Club link up? It’s week 5 in our homeschool year and we are moving right along as the season changes and Fall is almost upon us. We have been learning about bees and pollinators most of the Summer and as we head into Fall we are focusing on Botany and medicinal plants with our DIY Herbalism Course series. This ties in nicely with September’s theme of Prairie Wildflowers since Goldenrod is what we have seen most!

Prairie flower hike

We try to get outside and enjoy nature as much as possible and since the end of Summer is is here I thought a Prairie Wildflower Identification Hike was in order! Many of our county or neighboring county parks have areas of prairie that we can enjoy and explore.  A few weeks ago we were about an hour away and stopped at a park that was new to us and found a patch of wildflowers.

3rd Grade Homeschool Curriculum 2018-2019

September 12, 2018 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Big Red turned eight this Spring so I knew that it was time to up his academics a little bit this Fall. He is a very inquisitive child who is very good at mental math. He can read on his own quite well even though he was never given formal phonics or reading lessons. I share how I taught him to read in another post for those whom might be interested.

3rd Grade Homeschool Curriculum

Last year we decided to pick a history and science that everyone would learn together which helped me to keep my sanity. I decided to do the same thing for this year and use Mystery of History Volume 1 as our main spine.
