Book Review: Uncle Jesus by Georgia Lee Anderson

Book Review: Uncle Jesus

by Georgia Lee Anderson

DESCRIPTION:

Uncle Jesus is a heartwarming story that helps us imagine what it would have been like to be Jesus’ relative while He lived on earth. Jesus had brothers, including one named Jude, the author of the Bible book of the same name. In Uncle Jesus, Jude’s fictional son, Shem, visits Grandma Mary, the mother of Jesus, and relates some first-hand experiences he had with his Uncle Jesus when He was still on earth. An inquisitive, genuine, sweet little boy, Shem asks Grandma Mary about Jesus, about his other uncles’ view of Jesus, and about her own experiences.

REVIEW:

I will have to admit I have been dragging my feet on this review. I really hate to give negative reviews but I also MUST give HONEST reviews to keep my integrity.

This book Uncle Jesus is intended for young children. The artwork is captivating and appears to have taken the artist a long time. Very interesting as it looks like watercolor and oil pastel possibly mixed with chalk. The basic story was good but was far-fetched in its basic principle.  The words are written clearly but the negative is a very misleading statement about Jesus having three older brothers! This is not a typo and is re-emphasized that Mary had sons and was not married. I cannot recommend a book that twists biblical history even at a child’s level. Jesus was born to Mary of a virgin birth.

I would have to say that I was very disappointed in the fact that the basic story of Jesus was twisted and so misleading. I would advise parents and church leaders to steer clear of this book!

Disclosure of Material: I received this book free from the publisher through the BookCrash.com book review program, which requires an honest, though not necessarily positive, review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s CFR Title 16, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Homeschooled Through High School: Is it Possible? Introduction

Homeschooled Through High School:

Is it Possible? Introduction homeschooled through highschool

What this series is about:

Those of us who homeschool or who have been homeschooled through high school know that IT IS VERY Possible.  But how? Many parents and students look towards high school with fear and trepidation instead of being joyous as to how far into the journey they have come. I realize that families homeschool for a multitude of reasons and that each family is unique, but questions still arise when the words high school are mentioned!

A little bit about us and why I want to do this series:

I have been researching homeschool since my oldest 2 were in Christian school and I was pregnant with Lil’ Red. We knew that when baby #3 was born homeschooling was going to be where we were headed.

I read at least 5 books about homechooling, joined a dozen or so yahoo groups and thoroughly researched options/methods/learning styles, etc. all while being pregnant over 3 yrs. ago.

I am a part of a local homeschool group with around 70 families and I have come to realize time and time again they do not know about the resources I have found. They are often struggling with method/learning style/etc. that a little more research would help “cure”. THEY ARE STRUGGLING and I know I can help. That is the main reason I started Something 2 offer! I knew I would have to build up my credibility online first then the locals would see me as an asset! (I almost laughed myself silly at a meeting when Christine Fields guest spoke and mentioned Donna Young and Lee Binz. I could hear the scratch of pens frantically on paper. I was amazed that these well-known ladies were not known by my fellow homeschool families!)

UGLee Ergonomic Pen Review and Giveaway

UGLee Ergonomic Pen Review and Giveaway

UGLee ergonomic pen review and giveaway

REVIEW:

I am super excited to share with you the neatest ergonomic pen that I have come across.  It is called the UGlee pen and was created by Dr. Lee. The UGlee pen comes 3 to a pack and has a super comfy, squishy gel grip surrounding a majority of the barrel.  The pen just screams, “Write with me!” It is fun to hold and really fun to use. My husband tried it and liked it. My son tried it and liked it. I tried it and liked it. Good thing my daughter wasn’t home at the time or we would have been fighting over who got to use the UGlee pen next!

order your gel grip pen

I can see this being a very helpful tool for those families with reluctant writer’s. My son also mentioned that he really liked the fine tip and thought he would use it to illustrate his comics and drawings. What better way to encourage a young writer or artist then with the UGlee Pen….
