We have had a visit to the police department on our field trip list for a number of years. We finally decided to go after a friend arranged for a visit due to all the recent police tragedies across our nation. One fun fact is we have known the Police Chief since I was in Middle School. He was also a chaperone at the Christian recreation facility where Riley and I met in High School!

Princess has been interested in playing the piano for a handful of years. Since I only took piano lesson for 1 year in elementary school AND I haven’t read music in ages I thought it would be best for her to learn from someone else! She has dabbles in some online classes via Youtube and she has asked daddy and grandma fro help. None of these options have been the best choice for her learning style since she is a DIY type of girl who loves worksheets!
Princess has enjoyed watching the Busy Kids Do Piano lessons and printing out the worksheets all on her own. I love that she can sign in and work at her own pace. She was excited to show me the worksheets that she had completed.

There are many places to find homeschool support online via Yahoo Groups, Facebook Groups or Website Forums. I find it very beneficial to check these out BEFORE I am in desperate need of homechool support but maybe you are in that place of needing help, support or community.

I love free resources and digital resources are even better! I have been collecting free homeschool resources for awhile and love using free nature study resources. I think that many parents overlook the incredible value that nature study has to offer. If you take your children out in nature not only are they learning about nature but science, art, community, preservation, and their place in the world! That’s a lot of concepts that you cannot learn from a book!

As the weather becomes chilly and the leaves Fall I always like to try and plan a few Crock-Pot® meals for busy field trip or homeschool days. We are home most days BUT sometimes we need to run errands or be gone for a majority of the day making meal time challenging.
