Reasons to Make Pit Stops a Priority on Road Trips

June 24, 2016 By Thaleia 7 Comments

If you are planning a road trip then you just might want to consider these reasons to make pit stops a priority. Even Sally Clarkson in her book The Lifegiving Home talks about the importance of pit stops!

Reasons to Make Pit Stops a Priority on Road Trips

The first rest area in a state has hotel coupons and tourist guides.

If you are headed far from home you may need some guidance as far as hotel stays or nearby attractions. While most of our trips are planned way in advance due to them being press trips occasionally we take an impromptu getaway where this tip is very useful.

Newport Aquarium

October 19, 2015 By Thaleia 1 Comment

This post is a conversation on behalf of Meet NKY and Newport Aquarium.

We love visiting the Newport Aquarium, but it’s been quite a while since we’ve been able to get back. In fact this was Lil’ Red’s first  trip ever to the aquarium!

BB Riverboat Cruise

October 12, 2015 By Thaleia 3 Comments

This post is a conversation on behalf of Meet NKY and BB Riverboats.

We recently had a chance to attend the BB Riverboat’s Pirates of the Ohio Cruise. A super fun 90 minute cruise filled with tons of Pirate Activities like Walking the Plank, Swabbing the Deck, and even a Sword Fight! This was our family’s first time on a sightseeing cruise and it was the perfect mix of relaxed time and activity time. The weather was gorgeous to be out on the deck but there was plenty of room inside in case of bad weather.

Punderson Manor Lodge and Cabins

September 16, 2015 By Princess Leave a Comment

Located about 30 minutes or so from Cleveland is a huge state park called Punderson State Park. It’s nestled into the Ohio countryside between Newberry and Burton off Rt. 87.

Punderson Manor Lodge and Cabins

One thing I have learned from this trip is to research, ask questions, and then double check the facts. I had called the main desk at Punderson Lodge and thought that there was a laundry service on the premises to find out that it was closer to 7 miles down the road in Burton. Also remember that places like this are for those wanting to relax so some things like meal service runs on a leisurely time schedule. Do not wait until you or your kids are really hungry to place a meal order otherwise you might have an unpleasant mealtime on your hands.
