How January Went and My February Goals

February 1, 2015 By Thaleia 8 Comments

I cannot believe how quickly January went by. I was very excited by all the possibilities for many different blog hops, reviews, and giveaways. I hope you have enjoyed some of those things along the way with me. I also made some goals for 2015 which I plan to work on each month. Please continue to follow along with me each month to see how much I accomplish and what new goals I set.

how Jan went Feb goals

Here’s some highlights from January’s posts:

ABC’s of American History hosted by your truly

A to Z STEM with my H is for Heart Rate post

A to Z Gross Motor with my Y is for Yoga post

Multicultural Children’s Book Day with Beautiful Rainbow World Puppet post

I realized I did not have specific goals for January but shared some of my goals for 2015. I will share some new things as well as some things that maybe I forgot about already, lol. I also added TWO new goal categories this month which I feel round things out quite nicely.

jan blog post participation

Goals I Accomplished in January:

Blogging & Social Media Goals

  1. Offer linky services to other bloggers which I am now doing! If you are interested in hiring me to linky your educational blog posts OR a giveaway you are hosting then please check out my Linky Service Form.
  2. Because of the above I am now linking my own posts and giveaways up as well, win-win.
  3. I have not set a time to schedule FB shares like I had hoped for myself.
  4. Pageviews for Janaury 2014 were higher then January 2015. This makes me a little sad as I am really working hard to bring a variety of content to Something 2 Offer

Homeschool Goals

  1. Totally forgot to pick out a read aloud:( But we did enroll in Winter Reading Club!
  2. Not back on Khan Academy since we had a review for SDAccelerate instead with History and Math. We did start weekly Spelling tests again:)
  3. I think the ABC’s of American History is shaping up nicely and only have a couple of guest blogger spots to fill in June!
  4. I think we will look at homeschool discount days to attend as a family. The Homeschool Convention may be too much for Lil’ Red and Big Red with all the people.

Household & Marriage Goals

  1. Blog work and linky service took up more time then I had planned so I didn’t clean 1 room a week:(
  2. Hubby and I did not have a Date Night but a few hours a couple of times to spend kid-free!
  3. Still working on cleaning/chores that Big Red and Lil’ Red can do
  4. Did not try new recipes. Gotta do that for sure this month!

Personal Mommy Goals

  1. I did wear more scarves and tried to coordinate a few outfits. Will have Princess help me some more with this. She has a gift for that sorta thing!
  2. Still NOT wearing much jewelry but I should since I do own some nice pieces. Maybe start with earrings?
  3. Gotta get a few more pairs of shoes that are for colder weather. Wore my tennis shoes but only with jeans.
  4. Totally forgot about increasing water intake which I need to do since Lil’ Red has increased nursing!

Things I have Planned for February:

Blogging & Social Media Goals

  1. Launching Natural Organic Network with the Big Green Giveaway
  2. Keep blogging 4-5 times a week.
  3. Schedule 2 items on FB a day from OTHER bloggers.
  4. Increase all Social Media following by 10%
  5. Continue to link up 2 posts a week to linky parties

Homeschool & Educational Goals

  1. Attend Sugar Sibs Type 1 Diabetes Kids Event
  2. Check out February Homeschool discount days & attend Valentine’s party
  3. Continue with Math and History on SD Accelerate
  4. Continue with Spelling add Handwriting
  5.  Pick out Read Aloud that offers audiobook form as well

Household & Marriage Goals

  1. Plan to crockpot once a week minimum.
  2. Create a loose menu plan for 2-3 weeks at a time.
  3. Plan something for hubby as a surprise with ME securing childcare
  4. Keep cleaning and organizing a little bit each day. Super clean 15!

Personal Mommy Goals

  1. Inventory clothes. Purge, mend, and alter some current items.
  2. Create list of items to fill in wardrobe gap- khaki pants, dress boots, casual flats…
  3. Practice 1 new hairstyle share on instagram via #mommystyle
  4. Find a trusted friend or Youtube channel to learn a makeup technique

Financial Goals (forgot this in January)

  1. Increase blog income by 10% (determine monthly income from 2014)
  2. Squeeze more out of our budget by buying less and using what we already have
  3. Make a savings plan for vacation and blog conferences
  4. Plan our spending or barter for some things

Health and Fitness Goals (also forgotten in January-duh)

Make Chores Easier with the Reach It Grab It

January 29, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Who doesn’t want a way to make chores easier? Do you have trouble getting chores done? Maybe you dropped something or your spouse placed something high on a shelf and you cannot reach it. Maybe your children are “tired” and do not want to clean up.

make chores easier reach it grab it

Make chores fun with this simple tool. The Reach it Grab it is light enough even for my toddler to carry and use! Princess liked using it to pick up small and large stuffed animals that Lil’ Red had dumped all over the living room floor.

We used the Reach it Grab it at Christmas time to hand stockings in our kitchen doorway since we do not own a fireplace or mantel. I think putting a sock on the jaw end would make for a great ceiling fan cleaner.

Learning about Blood Pressure with a Sphygmomanometer

January 28, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Ever since Eldest was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes we have been on a health and fitness kick. There are so many questions and things to learn. So many things to keep in mind long-term. Blood pressure isn’t often a concern in children but more so as an adult. Since the general population is aging and hence our relatives, I thought a blood pressure cuff would be good to have.

Things You Can Do With Peppermint Essential Oil

January 10, 2015 By Thaleia Leave a Comment

Today I want to share with you some things you can do with peppermint essential oil. We have been using peppermint essential oil diluted with olive oil for over 6 months. We predominantly use it for headaches and sinus pressure. Even Princess has her own glass roller bottle filled with diluted peppermint EO. We use olive oil to dilute our EO’s since it is the easiest to come by.

Peppermint Essential Oil Collage

We are just dabbling in the use of essential oils so I couldn’t pass up the chance to review a bottle of Pure Body Naturals Peppermint Oil. I received a bottle for review and am not endorsing your use of peppermint or any other essential oil. Please consult your doctor, nurse, or certified herbalist for your personal use of any essential oils, herbs, or homeopathic remedies.

Here’s a little about Pure Body Naturals:

Pure Body Naturals Peppermint Oil is effective and repels rodents and insects such as fleas, tics, flies, rats, mosquitoes, mice, midges, spiders, bed bugs, ants and roaches. Our oil is 100% NATURAL AND NON-TOXIC perfect for use around the home and garden as it is completely non-harming. Perfect non-toxic alternative to other chemical products with effective results.

With each bottle a high quality glass dropper is included for convenience and to make our oil EASY TO USE when applying oil wherever required.

100% Pure and Natural Steam-distilled. No Dilution or Filtering. No Additives or Fillers. The Highest in Quality and Purity. Therapeutic Grade. Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans. NON-TOXIC. Highly Concentrated, Natural and Undiluted.

Some Ways to Use Peppermint Essential Oil:

Relieves Headaches and Migraines- Peppermint Oil is known to help relax strained blood vessels therefore preventing or relieving headaches and migraines. Use in strained areas and pressure points by applying and rubbing in those areas.

Relieves Stress- Reduce anxiety levels with the use of the peppermint oil with aromatherapy. The mint, sweet, menthol aroma will help relaxation in the body and mind.

Steam Remedy- Open up your airways and relieve mucus from the nose and throat. Put Peppermint Oil into boiling water and breathe in the steam from the water.

Peppermint Essential Oil-Our Peppermint Oil is Steam-distilled from leaves of the Menthapiperita (peppermint) plant. Completely Pure without additives or filler. Therapeutic Grade. Suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans. No animal testing was used in the making of this product.

I would suggest that anyone wanting to try essential oils that you do your research and are aware of any and all risks associated with using any herb or medicine. I am just learning to use natural cures and want to learn a ton more for my own personal use. I really enjoy learning new things and learning about essential oils is on my list of new things to learn.

I felt that Pure Body Naturals Peppermint Oil is strong and a good value for the money. It will take a long time for us to use this entire bottle up but will give it our best shot!
