Parenting Woes: Mommy Awake Baby Awake

August 20, 2014 By Thaleia 1 Comment

My biggest parenting issue right now is when mommy wakes up most days so does the baby. Yes, we bed share and this is for my sleep and sanity. So much easier to nurse at night with baby right next to me. Daddy and big siblings get more sleep since baby usually does not cry at night. Teething or having a cold brings on some fussing but a much more manageable amount.

4th of July Baby Art

July 3, 2014 By Thaleia 1 Comment

Just woke up and remember the star shaped post-its I have and that this week is 4th of July. Then I thought the stars combined with finger-paint would make a great baby art piece! Super simple while the big kids are at Grandma’s house.

I cannot believe that Lil’ Red is 10 1/2 months and HAS NOT done ART! Yikes, that’s so hard to comprehend. I had Eldest and Princess painting at 6 months and Big Red at 8 months. Just goes to show what happens as you have more kids and get crazy busy.

Why Backyard Camping is a Good Idea

June 27, 2014 By Thaleia 2 Comments

This weekend is the Great American Backyard Campout, but with the heat and humidity we may not actually do any backyard camping. If we are actually home we will put up a tent for play or bring it inside for a great humidity-free camping adventure. We did put up two different tents in our backyard but only for a day or two so we didn’t kill the grass. I actually moved the smaller play tent around everyday so the grass underneath wouldn’t be flattened and die.

Ways_to_show_child_love

“I love you.” 3 words that mean so much, yet we all have a tendency to take them for granted when we hear or speak them everyday. We try to teach our children that words mean things and have weight, but it’s also important to show them that we mean what we say.  I share 5 heartfelt, yet simple ways to show your child you love them. Having four children can make it a challenge to make sure each child knows and feels love.

Stop over at Satisfaction Through Christ where I have written the whole post of 5 Ways to Show your Child You Love Them for my June article contribution!

Reasons Why Staycations Are A Great Idea

June 3, 2014 By Thaleia 1 Comment

The super Summer buzzword that came to be before 2008 but was made uber popular since the recession – the STAYCATION! You will see, hear, and read it everywhere as Summer gets closer and closer. I love the idea of a vacation but with four children 11 years and younger it may not be as fun as it sounds. This is why I think I have some reasons why Staycations are a great idea that you should consider.

1. Staycations do not place an unreasonably high standard for an elaborate vacation.

Not everyone can afford a fancy, expensive vacation. Planning a vacation above your means puts stress on the whole family. This also sets an unnecessary standard that your children with grow to expect each year! Instead plan something free, cheap or local. Create memories that are easy for your children to do with their family when they grow up (stargaze, hike, go play at a park, etc). Check your state parks, county parks, and city parks for free or cheap activities. You never know you may just create a fun family tradition!
